Home: Speaker positioning
The above setup is for a traditional five speaker system. As you can see the centre speaker needs to be facing directly infront of you, and halfway between the left and right speakers. The rear right and left surround speakers need to be slightly above and behind the seated chair. The subwoofer should be placed someplace behind the centre speaker. Speaker setups, 2.1, 5.1, 7.12.1 Surround Sound Includes left, right, center. Provides and creates DTS, Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby Digital. 5.1 Surround Sound Includes left, right, center, left surround, right surround. Provides and creates Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II. 7.1 Surround Sound Includes left, right, center, left surround, right surround, left rear, right rear. Usually one channel will contain support for low frequency effects, LFE. Provides and creates Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD.
